Kinotoloka Halifax, in collaboration with independent cinema Carbon Arc, invites you to a special screening of the documentary “Malevich: Born in Ukraine” in Halifax.
An artist who reshaped the way we see modern art. The creator of the Black Square.
We all know the name Kazimir Malevich — but do we really know who he was?
“Malevich: Born in Ukraine” is a powerful documentary that gives voice, name, and space back to an artist shaped by Ukrainian culture — an artist the empire tried to erase.
The film features rare archival photos, graphic works, digital reconstructions of Malevich’s paintings, and — for the first time ever on screen — Suprematist cinema based on a script Malevich wrote in 1930.
We hope to see you there!
